Miley Cyrus slayed the VMAs

LEGENDARY & ICONIC. My gurl Miley Cyrus twerked her ass off and surprised everyone with this amazing performance of her hit single "We Can't Stop". Plus, she also sang with Robin Thicke, his summer anthem "Blurred Lines". It was too epic for words to be honest. I'm done with all the criticism from all of the haters out there. Miley had a lot of fun being reckless and delivered what is so far my favorite performance of the year.

Hey y'all!!! Sorry I've been away for so many days... almost a month without posting here on my blog. I've been on vacations in Italy and south of France... it was a blast and I can't wait to share a lot of pictures with you all. If you follow my instagram you probably saw where I've been... Anyway, I'm back!!!!!

The first post after my return is something really epic and amazing. My fave Robert Pattinson and Dior have teamed up for a brand new campaign. It was revealed just a little teaser and I'm absolutely amazed by the shots captured by Nan Golding.

Besides, there's also a behind the scenes video where you can see the different locations and scenes from Robert's shooting. It looks like a movie, oh my goodness, I can't wait to see the final result. It has romance, the places are so beautiful, the black and white cinematography is absolutely stunning. Just see for yourself... My soul was slayed. #flawfree

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BLOG!!!!!!! 5 YEARS!!!!! :D 

É verdade! Até me surpreendo só de olhar para trás e ver que o tempo passou tão depressa. Parece que foi ontem que comecei... 5 anos é uma carrada de anos! :O

Há 5 anos decidi criar um blog como uma forma de reunir tudo aquilo que eu gostava, assim para o desconhecido, para quem por um acaso o descobrisse e quisesse passear pelas minhas divagações. Nunca foi um diário ou um simples canto de despejo de coisas, nunca nada foi premeditado ou feito por obrigação, é apenas um espaço onde revelei (e revelo) mais de mim e daquilo que realmente gosto. Tudo o que partilhei tinha e tem significado para mim e a cada post fui amadurecendo. Umas vezes mais regular, outras mais inconstante, mas a verdade é que o projecto cresceu mais do que eu alguma vez poderia pensar. A matriz das minhas publicações esteve sempre relacionada com moda mas nunca quis levar com o chavão que isso acarreta. É apenas um blog e não uma garrafa, por isso não são precisos rótulos. Se há algo que me recuso é a ver a vida de forma bilateral, ou preto ou branco, ou sim ou não. 

Ao longo desta metade de década partilhei música, literatura, arte e também textos pessoais, íntimos até. Através das palavras expus-me e penso que foi nessa transparência que alcancei cada vez mais leitores, os melhores leitores que poderia ter. Tenho que agradecer a todos os que, com entusiasmo, esperam pelos meus posts, aqueles que comentam, que divulgam, que interagem, que dão feedback. Quando o blog se estendeu para o Facebook, começou toda uma nova fase. O Facebook como um complemento cada vez mais imediato da filosofia do blog, onde novamente sou 100% eu, sem meias medidas, sem papas na língua, livre para dizer aquilo que penso, para confrontar ideias.

Durante estes anos fiz amizade (sim amizade!) com diversos seguidores meus. Sinto-me abençoado por ter tido a sorte de me descobrirem, de me contactarem. Muitos outros que me acompanham têm uma ideia errada de mim, chegam mesmo a dizer que sou arrogante ou antipático. Mas não o sou, o que sempre pretendi foi comunicar, dar a minha opinião, mesmo sabendo que essa mesma opinião poderia causar polémica ou alarido. Não me arrependo de ter dito rigorosamente nada. Afinal é do confronto de ideias que surge o conhecimento, a sabedoria. Se concordássemos todos com o mesmo, o mundo seria um sítio bem aborrecido. Não olho para os debates como algo negativo, mas sim como uma forma de também conhecer outros lados de determinado tema. Um modo de perceber que existem pessoas absolutamente diferentes de mim. There's no harm in that. Arrepender-me-ia sim se tivesse ficado calado com receio que pudessem existir opiniões contrárias à minha.

Tenho a língua afiada (pois tenho!), uma personalidade vincada (o mais possível!) e sei bem daquilo que gosto (Cara Delevingne, Donatella Versace, Sean O'Pry, and so on). Adoro liberdade, liberdade de expressão. Pretendo dar seguimento ao blog por mais uma série de anos, porque sem pretensões consegui atingir e alcançar metas, foram-me dadas oportunidades, feitos convites, fui reconhecido em espaços públicos, congratulado, recebo mensagens, e-mails com coisas maravilhosas. Abriu-me inclusive portas a nível profissional. É incrível, porque este meu blog não passa de um hobby. No entanto, tenho a plena consciência de que o faço com paixão, que não sigo a linha de qualquer outro espaço online, e talvez seja esse o segredo, não sei. Quero acima de tudo agradecer a todos os que me visitam diariamente, semanalmente, ocasionalmente, o que quer que seja. Aos que me elogiam e aos que me confrontam, aos que me testam, aos que gostam de mim e aos que não gostam, aos que acreditam no blog. Gosto de sentir que não sou apenas mais um, gosto de saber que aquilo que faço tem um efeito noutras pessoas, não sou indiferente. Isso é um estímulo enorme, acreditem! Todo o vosso reconhecimento faz-me querer fazer mais e melhor.

Continuo a fazer o que faço nunca à espera de gratificações. Pretendo continuar com o projecto 2XN1 e cada vez levá-lo mais e mais para a frente, se isso me trouxer benefícios melhor. No entanto, não o faço à espera de receber nada. Vou tentar renovar-me a cada dia, empenhar-me em cada linha que produzo, em cada conteúdo que publico. Neste momento estou a digerir e a dar corpo a diversas ideias que espero poder consubstanciar em breve. Quero crescer com vocês e não me canso de agradecer. Obrigado por estes cinco anos. Vou continuar a ser duas vezes #1, como sabem não me satisfaço com pouco. Sou capaz de repensar a casa com triturador de lixo... acho que em 5 anos é possível eu ter elevado a minha fasquia. Anyway, isto daqui a bocado em vez de um texto torna-se uma trilogia de 500 páginas cada e não quero isso de todo. Portanto, resumindo e concluindo... adoro a incerteza do futuro e mal posso esperar pelos próximos anos, se forem tão bons como os que já passaram é óptimo sinal. Eu próprio estou curioso para ver o que (me) vai acontecer. One last time, thank you all. Estou de pé graças a vocês.

Minajesty unzipped

My favorite girl Nicki Minaj is dominating the world and I love it. From her own fragrance, two #1 albums, owning the record of 7 singles charting at the same time on Billboard Hot 100, a collaboration with MAC cosmetics to American Idol judge, face of Jeremy Scott for Adidas collection, duets with Madonna, Britney, Kanye West, among others, performing at Superbowl with Madonna, and so on. Miss Minaj is slaying all your faves because she not only does hip-hop like no one else in the game but she also did a crossover to pop and R&B. I mean... when will your faves??? Bow down to the Queen!!!!

Right now she covers the April issue of ELLE US and she's absolutely stunning, like she's never been seen before. For 2013, Nicki revealed she wanted to go with more clean looks and she's doing it. Excessiveness is part of the past and she's evolving. Love to see one of my favorite artists stepping up her game. She opted to strip down and show her natural self with no fake eyelashes, no wigs, no pink lipstick. On her dramatic make-under for her ELLE photo shoot:

"When I saw myself with barely any makeup at, it was such a… like, I'm so, so attached to my pink lipstick, it's hard. I feel that it's become a part of me. To go in front of the camera, without pink lips or big ol' crazy lashes— you know, nothing— I felt naked. It was scary! So this photo shoot was a real accomplishment in my eyes."

On her plans for world domination:

"My goal in the beginning was to buy my mother a house. Now I realize, Okay, if I really focus and become a key player in business, then I can build an empire. I'm thinking of a legacy that I can be proud of and wealth that my grandchildren can use to go to college. So world domination— in terms of providing for my family— is absolutely my goal."

On experiencing bullying in school as a child:

"I went through a lot of bullying early on. Girls made my life a living hell. We had come to America from a different country. My brother and I had accents. It was very tough. So I've always put up this wall— it was a self-defense mechanism growing up— because I was almost expecting people to attack me. And I still have it. It's sad."

Her advice for women on how to command respect:

"My advice to women in general: Even if you're doing a nine-to-five job, treat yourself like a boss. I have to do right by this woman. That's what it's all about."

Kanye x Margiela

These images left me breathless so I had to share them with all of you. Kanye West is doing some surprise shows in Europe and his performance at Le Zénith, in Paris, was captured by the lens of the prestigious photographer Tommy Ton. More than a concert, Kanye did a fashion, artistic and musical installation. He was the center of the show and wore a straightjacket, a golden chain, a pair of Nike Air Force 1 high tops and a beautiful crystal Maison Martin Margiela mask. (It might be kinda difficult to sing with a mask covering all your face... just sayin'!)

Everything looked a little bit weird but conceptualized at the same time, Mr. West is taking his music to the next level, he's surely not the typical rapper, he's an artist and I guess he's stating that. Based on some reports, Kanye was talking 'crazy' and one of the things he said was: “I am Picasso. I am Michelangelo. I am Basquiat. I am Walt Disney. I am Steve Jobs.”. I have no clue of what he's trying to transmit but it's pretty funny, probably a way of artistic purification, of freedom, a catharsis, a death-liberation thesis maybe(?!). Oh well... I'm done guessing... let's just appreciate these pictures and wait for Kanye's next album, which he is already recording.

The Victoria's Secret slayer!

Cara Delevingne. Um nome apenas que basicamente resume as minhas expectativas para o desfile deste ano da Victoria's Secret. A manequim britânica estreou-se para a marca de lingerie e, apesar de ter a noção que me irão querer apedrejar, eu atrever-me-ia a dizer que ela elevou os standards e redefiniu uma nova imagem das VS angels. Estamos fartos da girl next door tipicamente americana, eu quero new faces! Quero some awkwardness, some unpredictable beauty!!!

Vamos ao que interessa: a Cara só desfilou com um único look e por isso fiquei triste... muito triste. Esperava algo mais explosivo e um full lingerie. Para além disso, não percebo porque é que não lhe deram wings, era o mínimo!!! Espero que na próxima edição ela seja a queen do pedaço e que arrase com todas. Basicamente a Cara Delevingne tem um ar angelical, inocente mas rebelde, irreverente e acima de tudo sexy. É precisamente isso que a Victoria's Secret é, um mix de todas essas características. 

Admito que estou um pouco cansado de ver sempre as mesmas caras, embora icónicas. Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr etc. irão ficar como eternas embaixadoras da marca de lingerie mas acho positivo existir evolução e creio que modelos a transbordar personalidade, como a Cara, são necessárias para renovar e dar a frescura às colecções. Caso contrário, chega a uma altura em que já parece sempre o mesmo show com as mesmas modelos. Posto isto, Cara Delevingne slayed all your faves in this latex piece... com um moinho de vento na mão enquanto o Justin Bieber actuava e se babava simultaneamente. 

Espero que fique aqui bem demonstrada a minha paixão descontroladamente assolapada pela miss Delevingne. Sinceramente, mal posso esperar por vê-la em movimento no dia 4 de Dezembro, quando for transmitido o desfile na íntegra. O andar dela... com aquelas pernas que nunca mais acabam e aquele olhar killer... I'm sure my non-existent ovaries will explode. You have to admit that she slays all your faves! Sem hipótese de refutação. Case closed.

My body is damn ready!

Estou com uma indisposição crónica. Quão awesome é esta t-shirt? I can't even... Enfim! Basicamente o site Fucking Young! (do qual sou 300% fã) propôs uma colaboração exclusiva com o designer Roberto Piqueras para a criação de uma t-shirt épica. Esta parceria surge com o lançamento de uma revista por parte do site de moda masculina que, em cada edição, irá criar uma peça de roupa com um estilista emergente. A que vos mostro aqui é a t-shirt que acompanha a 1ª edição. Eu ainda estou a recuperar o fôlego porque os elementos kitsch são tudo aquilo que eu gosto: referências pop contemporâneas, ícones, desenhos animados, cinema, música, moda... como se fosse uma grande colagem de recortes. Never in my wildest dreams eu iria imaginar algo tão fenomenal: Pikachu + James Dean + Alicia Silverstone + Meryl 'Miranda Priestly' Streep + Kate Moss + Brad Pitt + Justin Timberlake + Heath Ledger + Christina Aguilera + Barbie + Donatella Versace + Sailormoon e a lista é interminável... Só foram feitas 25 t-shirts destas e eu adoraria ter uma (comprar aqui). Such an iconic piece!

Admito que esta t-shirt faz-me lembrar os meus tempos de high-school em que eu fazia montagens para decorar os meus cadernos e estas eram algumas das referências que eu tinha! O designer Roberto Piqueras é espanhol mas está radicado em Londres e da pesquisa que fiz tem um trabalho excelente com prints e apresenta as suas propostas de forma muito pouco convencional em galerias de arte e espaços públicos... dêem uma vista de olhos no site oficial.

O modelo Jake Hold e a sua imagem meio grunge meio bad boy dão sem dúvida um brilho especial à t-shirt. Boa escolha! Agora vou rezar para que seja feito um milagre e esta t-shirt me chegue por correio. #Wishlist #TooCool4School

Your faves just got slayed!

HOLY SH*T! Jeremy Scott just shut it down. I can't even express myself about this Spring/Summer collection for 2013. It's so damn good. So damn epic. So damn glorious. Jeremy Scott is that kind of designer that always pushes the envelope. He plays with concepts and fabrics turning his creations into some kind of iconic pop collection. It's bold, bright and delicious. Look at those amazing patterned fabrics. Love the shirts with the caps and shorts... what about those black shiny boots with padlocks? Oh my dog! Totally want them.

Jeremy Scott's collections are always vibrant, he plays with certain elements like no one else does in the industry, he's subversive and I would name him the Marcel Duchamp of fashion, not only because Jeremy challenges conventional thoughts, but also because he brings specific references to his pieces (Bart Simpson, Snickers, Teddy Bears, Google, paint and computers and so on). This time he brought a controversial theme: the Arab Spring, using outlandish patterned scarves and burqas for women. Absolutely edgy. I can see some vintage Versace inspiration there, a little bit of ghetto glam mixed with islamic symbolism. Over the top! People might hate on Jeremy Scott but he's still amazing anyway, so I'm gonna end this post quoting him. That's all.

Qualquer dia corro o risco das pessoas acharem que isto é um blog apenas sobre o Sean O'Pry, but I can't help myself. Everything he does is out of this world and I just can't ignore. Não é que o meu manequim preferido de repente aparece num vídeo fenomenal para a campanha Fall/Winter 2012 da Zara?!?!?! Eu fiquei de queixo caído, as imagens estão muito cinematográficas e enfim tudo é absolutamente perfeito. Sou sincero, já não sei que palavras inventar para descrever quão sublime o Sean O'Pry é. Quanto terminei de ver o vídeo, para além de ter ficado sem respirar, só consegui clicar no play outra vez. Oh well... entretanto também o Jon Kortajarena faz parte desta black&white masterpiece.

NICKI MINAJ FOR ADIDAS ORIGINALS

O entusiasmo veio a dobrar quando vi que a Nicki Minaj, que eu a-d-o-r-o, entra no vídeo da nova campanha da Adidas Originals. E mais do que entrar e aniquilar todos os vossos favoritos, ela ainda é a banda sonora com a música "Masquerade". #Flawless #Perfect #Epic Então no minuto 0:33 quando ela começa a "desfilar" numa passadeira, está inacreditável. Ela tem imensa presença, confiança, segurança e sem dúvida que incorpora muito bem o estilo destas peças Adidas Originals. Para além da Nicki, também podemos ver o criador Jeremy Scott, a modelo/cantora Sky Ferreira (aparece tão pouco que quase não dei por ela), Big Sean e o grupo de K-Pop 2NE1. Gostei mesmo muito do vídeo, cosmopolita, inspirador, divertido. Good job, Adidas!

Robert Pattinson in Lisbon

Robert Pattinson was in Lisbon for the premiere of his brand new movie "Cosmopolis". It was directed by the amazing David Cronenberg who I had the opportunity to talk to and he's so nice and friendly... his wife even took a picture of me while I was waiting to meet Rob. Paul Giamatti was there as well and he's really laid-back and pleasant, he loves Lisbon and went for a walk to buy some stuff and people didn't recognize him at all.

Yesterday was the anticipated premiere of "Cosmopolis" and I have to say that it is quite incredible. Rob plays a complex character in a brain movie which might be considered boring by some people because it's focused on dialogs, not much action happening and mostly located inside a limousine. However, the lines have a lot of meaning, mostly criticizing a money-centered-society and raising philosophical questions related to time/money, sex/feelings, life/death, perfection/chaos. Robert's character is having an inner conflict because he urges himself to get out of the abstract world he lives in, he tries to free himself through violence and testing his numb senses. "Cosmopolis" is basically an ode to the decline of the capitalism. Great piece of work from Mr. Cronenberg! I need to watch it once again so that I can have more conclusions, even though this is not an understandable movie, everything can be considered as a metaphor.

The red carpet moment was crazy even though it was confusing, stressful and happened in a blink of an eye. Inside the theatre he presented the movie and I tried to capture some moments with my camera so I could share them with all of you. Hope you like it!
